HTMS Prasae
by Nye Nava
1/700 (Loose Cannon)
Between Korean War, the Royal Thai Navy joined the Allied Force and lost an ex-Royal Navy Flower class corvette, the first HTMS Prasae aground at Yang Yang coast, North Korea.
US Navy offered couple of Tacoma class patrol frigates for replacements and USS Gallup (PF-47) became the second HTMS Prasae while USS Glendale (PF-36) became the second HTMS Tachin. HTMS Prasae was commissioned to the Royal Thai Navy 29/10/1951 and operated in Korean war until 1954.
Before she was retired, Prasae served as a training ship, so the K-gun projectors on the quarterdeck were removed so the rail could be continually manned. She was decommissioned 22/06/2000 and became a landlocked display as HTMS Prasae Memorial at the mouth of the Prasae River, eastern of Thailand.
The model is based on the Loose Cannon Products Tacoma class kit with a new built superstructure. Other parts come from scratch and spares box, PE parts comes from the kit, GMM, Lion Roar, Fly Hawk and Eduard. |
